The 2022 Municipal Election is being held for the following offices in the Township of Macdonald, Meredith & Aberdeen Additional
In addition, voters will elect school board trustees based on the school board they support.
Eligibility to vote in a municipal election is based on the requirements of the Municipal Elections Act.
Qualifications:
A person is entitled to be a voter at an election held in a local municipality if, on voting day, he or she,
(a) resides in the local municipality or is the owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
(b) is a Canadian citizen;
(c) is at least 18 years old; and
(d) is not prohibited from voting under subsection (3) or otherwise by law. 2002, c. 17, Sched. D, s. 5 (2); 2005, c. 5, s. 46 (1).
The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for collecting the information of residents in Ontario (name, date of birth, citizenship and school support) in order to create a Preliminary List of Electors for municipal and school board elections. Municipalities will use the Preliminary List of Electors to prepare their Voters Lists for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections.
One of the ways MPAC collects this information is through voterlookup.ca.
Here, Ontarians can add their name and the names of other members of their household to a secure database and confirm or update their information.
This helps ensure that each municipality has the most accurate information possible for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections.
Take a few minutes to verify your information at voterlookup.ca and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
The voting method for the 2022 Municipal election for the Township of Macdonald, Meredith & Aberdeen Additional will be by the traditional voting method, the same format that was used for the 2018 election.
The traditional method will include in-person, paper ballot voting with a manual count.

A person is qualified to be elected or hold office as a member of council only if, as of the day they file their nomination they are:
(a) resides in the local municipality or is the owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;

Not disqualified for violation of financial requirements or violations of requirements for filing financial information
Not disqualified by any Act from holding such office.
Not disqualified under the provisions as outlined in MEA, s.90(2) and 91(1)
