About Our Fire Department

The Echo Bay & Townships Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served the community since 1963, responding to fires, rescue calls, and public hazards while providing fire safety education to residents and visitors.

What We Do

Emergency Response

Our trained volunteer firefighters respond to:

  • Structure fires
  • Motor vehicle collisions
  • Medical assists (when requested)
  • Hazardous conditions and public assistance calls

Fire Prevention & Education

We promote public safety through:

  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detector education
  • Home fire escape planning
  • Safe outdoor burning guidance
  • School and community presentations

Outdoor Burning & Permits

Open-air burning requires a burn permit from April 1 to October 31. Permits are available online or at the municipal office.

Outdoor burning safety:

  • Never leave a fire unattended
  • Keep water or extinguishing tools nearby
  • Follow local fire ratings and restrictions
